Piqué construction and why the collar matters most
Piqué is a double-knit with a waffle-like surface: breathable, holds shape, and takes embroidery well. The body is rarely the problem on a polo — the collar is. A fused two-piece collar holds its shape through washing; a single-layer knitted collar curls at the points within a few washes.
Ask specifically whether the collar is fused and whether the placket is separate or knitted-in. Those two answers separate a uniform polo that survives a year of washing from one that looks tired after a month.
Embroidery placement on a polo
The left chest is the default position, roughly 70–90 mm below the shoulder seam and centred on the placket edge. On a piqué surface, embroidery needs a backing or the stitches pull the knit into a dimple — a light cut-away or tear-away backing solves it.
If the logo goes on the sleeve or the collar, the placket has to be planned around it. A collar logo on a fused collar is fine; on a knitted collar it deforms the point.
Price, reorders and colour matching
The two stock polos sit at $2.46–$2.74 FOB — inexpensive because piqué is a lighter fabric per unit than fleece and the construction is standardised. Sizes follow the usual run with extended-size surcharges.
The reorder risk on polos is colour: a staff programme that adds five people in month six needs the same dye lot behaviour, not just the same colour name. Ask for the colour reference and confirm it in writing before the first order, and keep the approved sample for the reorder.
